Youth Ministry

Our student ministry focuses on two primary things: Leading students to love God and leading students to love other students.

We carry this out through a strategy of worship and small group on a regular basis and events such as retreats, conferences, and local/global service opportunities with non-profit and mission agencies. We also host a weekly deeper commitment for students to who want to lead in ministry called student leadership. I meet weekly with students and invest in them through teaching, encouragement, and vision-casting. Each picture will help you see what we do and the information below it will tell you why we do it.

Sunday Night Worship
Our main avenue for helping students grow closer to God is through student led worship every Sunday night from 6pm-8pm.  Our student band is led by Aaron Gosnell.  I speak, our students lead us in worship, and we usually break out with a game when it's all over.  We have students from all over Christian County attend our worship.  If you are a student in the area, we invite you to come any night we meet.

Small Group
Our second avenue for helping students grow closer towards each other is through small group.  The teaches us that we should love one another, carry each others burdens, forgive others, and encourage each other.  Small group helps students to travel through life together instead of being alone.  We're not perfect, we're just trying to help each other through difficult times and enjoy good times together.

Summer Events
Every summer we attend camp at LSCA, travel to a CIY conference, and serve a local mission.  Here is a photo of our students at a CIY conference this past year in Cleveland, TN.  CIY is a week-long conference on a college campus that engages students through God's word and an exciting concert like worship.  Our summer events really impact our students for God.  Our group is growing all the time and attending an event is one of the best ways to get plugged into our group.

Retreats
Retreats are a blast at TSM.  We will hold 2-3 retreats a year.  This is a picture from our RED HOT RETREAT last January.  We traveled to Little Galilee in Clinton, IL and stayed in their cabins and had a blast.  Our retreats cover issues that are difficult to talk about in one sitting, like dating.  We will host a several throughout a year and they are always beneficial for our students growth.
Service
Throughout our year we partner with other local non-profits to serve our community.  In 2011, our theme will be mission minded.  Here our students spent some time with our local food pantry.  We will be traveling out of the country on a missions trip in 2011.  Our direction will be one of these places: Canada, Mexico, or Haiti.  We also serve at Inner City Mission in Springfield, IL.

Event Support
We know that coming up with money for our events can be difficult, which is why we have two scheduled opportunities to serve and gain money towards our events.  Every year we host a New Year's Eve dinner and an Easter breakfast.  Our students help serve the meals and reap the offerings.  These help us a lot.  Money is not an issue for our students attending trips.  TSM has always helped students attend events financially.  We want all our students to be part of what we do because our fellowship is critical to a healthy student ministry.
